Nancy Major, CEO of Variety Children’s Charity of Wisconsin, appears on Modern Living with kathy ireland® to share how her organization is helping children with special needs and their families live life to the fullest. By focusing on each child’s physical and emotional well-being, building confidence and encouraging resilience, facilitators give kids with disabilities opportunities to realize dreams and goals that might otherwise be unattainable.
Founded in 1935, Variety Children’s Charity of Wisconsin has its roots in the theater community, but in the nearly 100 years since its inception, Variety has grown from a group of 11 men supporting one abandoned little girl to a network of philanthropists supporting children throughout the state. Endeavors include a collection of core programs plus the Chatter Matters Communications Camp and sponsored opportunities to interact, learn and grow. The result is a year-round slate of hands-on, inclusive, adaptive activities that are fun, educational, inspiring and good for every participant regardless of ability.
